This is the NANHRI blended e-learning course on economic, social and cultural rights.

The courses consists of this faciliatated e-learning and a regional workshop. By the end of the course as a whole, learners should be able to:


UNDERSTAND CONCEPTS AND CONTEXTS: Learners should understand the core standards and principles that constitute ESCR. Moreover, learners should be able to recognise the threats and opportunities for ESCR in different economic and development contexts. A particular focus in this regard is potential for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to support the progressive realization of ESCR.


EXERCISE FUNCTIONS STRATEGICALLY: Learners should be able to identify how the different functions of their NHRI can be carried out to address different types of ESCR issues. Such functions include monitoring, holding government and other responsible parties to account and facilitating remedies, as well as advising and educating stakeholders, facilitating trust and dialogue and convening partnerships for the progressive realization of ESCR.


APPLY RELEVANT TOOLS: Learners should be able to understand and apply basic tools and techniques for carrying out mandated functions as they relate to ESCR, including identifying indicators and benchmarks and analyzing data – especially budgetary and other relevant economic data.
